color (codes) are messing up dmesg on the linux console, see attachment
I'm on gentoo ~x86, tested with kernel 2.6.25 and 2.6.26-rc1, bug occurs while/after bootup, after some lines to dmesg it's gone. maybe this happens randomly since at the moment the problem is not there.
Also on bootup/shutdown the color stuff messes up sometimes, maybe there is a better way to do it.

OpenRC is not responsible for dmesg output, nor the linux console, nor do it's colour codes affect it.
I would take this bug to Gentoo at http://bugs.gentoo.org
