First off, if you just want to maintain a game or two, that's fine. You
won't be part of the herd to do so, but you can maintain the game. The
metadata.xml file will just list games as the herd and you as the
maintainer. The games herd reserves the right to come in and poke on
the ebuild however ;).
If you're still reading, then you probably want to join up. Here is a
basic list of the expectations of a games herd member:
-
know the games.eclass
inside and out.
-
maintains any and all game in a category that has 'games' in the name of it
-
maintain all open bugs
assigned to games@gentoo.org
-
hang out in the #gentoo-games channel on irc.freenode.net
If you're *still* reading, then please come by #gentoo-games and talk to SpanKY about joining up.
Here are a few additional notes about being with games:
-
with bugzilla, all bugs are owned by games@gentoo.org.
in order to indicate that a dev is working on a bug, just set the bug to ASSIGNED. that
way the other devs stay up-to-date with the game and know not to waste time working on it
-
add yourself to the games herd in the herds.xml file. this file can be found in the gentoo
cvs module under the xml top directory.
-
talk to cybersystem and/or seemant about getting added to the games@gentoo.org e-mail alias
