I try to keep a backup of all old releases on tape.

- Download the index file 
  - contains materials at least as far back as 2003
  - Gentoo 1.4, 2004.x, 2005.x, 2006.x, 2007.0
- Search the index for the file you want
- Email robbat2@gentoo.org
  Subject: Gentoo historical archive request
  Complete path(s) to the file(s) you need.
- And I'll see what I can do.

Please note that some the content is stored on offsite tape media, and restore
time is in the timeframe of weeks, due to the need to fetch tapes, and upload
via a 1Mbit upstream.
