ajak's manifesto I'm ajak, John Helmert III (the third). My dad and his dad both share the "John Helmert" name with me, thus I'm the third person with the name. I started using Gentoo in 2018 and I've been working on Gentoo security February/March of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. I become an official developer about a year later, in February 2021. I graduated with my 4 year computer science degree in May 2022. Since joining Gentoo, I've joined and made contributions to several other projects (arm, proxy-maint, virtualization, infra) and also became the Security deputy lead. I maintain various minor packages and am a co-maintainer of QEMU. I've devoted a great deal of time to Gentoo, and I would like to see it continue to be a relevant Linux distribution. Council members should also want this, and they should feel strongly about how to ensure it. Naturally this will give rise to conflict, but the council should be capable of making progress even through conflict. As active members of the Gentoo community, council members should not only be able to keep up with the appropriate meeting tasks but also continue to push development forward.
