This document describes what needs to be done to get Gentoo running on Lenovo IdeaPad U350 CS20 notebook. All information here could be also used with other Linux distributions, but I'm "Gentoo centric" ;)
First the specs for my machine:

What works & what doesn't:
| Video: |
Ok Works out-of-box. |
| Sound: |
With problems Playback works, microphone does not. |
| USB: |
Ok EHCI and UHCI. |
| Firewire: | Not tested yet |
| Touchpad: | Ok |
| Power management: |
With problems It's not possible to change screen brightness using Fn+arrow keys with KMS enabled, setpci works: `setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=BF' (where last value BF is hexadecimal number from 00 to FF).
|
| Hotkeys: | Ok |
| SD/MMC Card reader: | Not tested yet |
| Ethernet: |
Ok Requires loading broadcom before tg3, but there's no dependency on broadcom in tg3. I'm using following tg3.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d/ directory:
install tg3 /sbin/modprobe broadcom; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install tg3 remove broadcom /sbin/modprobe -r tg3; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-remove -r broadcomAdded benefit is that when you modprobe -r broadcom instead of kernel oops you get tg3 unloaded before broadcom.

| Wireless: |
Ok Works ok with wl Broadcom STA driver (net-wireless/broadcom-sta), broken with b43 (slow, unreliable, no DMA).
|
| Bluetooth: | Ok |
| Builtin webcam: |
Ok Works with uvcvideo module.
