Note: This page is available in English and in Finnish. This page should use content negotiation, which automatically selects the version indicated in browser preferences, but unfortunately Gentoo infra does not often find time or will to configure apache properly (see gentoo bug 92372) so you will need to just use those links. |
Here’s a short list of contact methods:
The list is in order of preference somewhat. You will find that mail is best way to get certain response. Messages sent via IRC might at times get missed, and other IM’s are unreliable in general.
2. My Portage overlays (i.e. experimental package repositories)
I maintain package repository for Gentoo called Finnish overlay. It contains Finnish spell checking, speech synthesis and stuff.
This is a set of packages I use a lot in my studies and research at university. As of December 2007 they are part of Science overlay. There is an obsolete-ish page about the “project” in my webspace here: Linguistics packages for Gentoo.
Participating in gentoo-doc-fi
Warning: This English outline of the process is provided only for short information, the full process can be found from Finnish version of this page, as it is expected that everyone participating Finnish translations are fluent Finnish speakers. |
If you are translating:
If you want to aid in QA process:
If you wish to participate in Finnish translations, ther is a page describing translation style in Finnish. It focuses around some decisions made in Gentoo documentation’s Finnish translations, such as: how to translate program names and paths, different lists and tables, format of headers and so on.
Also, if you are interested in aiding in Finnish translations, you will want to know all about how things are done with Gentoo documentations, for that, browse through Gentoo developers’ documentation and specifically Documentation project specific part of project docs.
Announcing translations and handling feedback is done on mailing list gentoo-doc-fi@gentoo.org. Finished translations must also be uploaded to Gentoo’s bugzilla, prefarably using a bug report template I have made. It is also advisable for translators to keep their work up-to-date with original version, this can be easily done using gentoo-doc-cvs@gentoo.org mailing list, where all the changes to English docs are supposedly announced.
Note: If you don’t know how to subscribe to a mailing list, please read the instructions on Gentoo's mailing list page . |
