- Io programming language - 12/08/2006 -:
We have a new programming language in Gentoo. Welcome Io , a prototype-based
pure object oriented language. It is kind of a mix of Smalltalk with Lisp ; it is also inspired in languages like Self,
and NewtonScript ; and it offfers a small and embeddable enviromment that makes it an option to languages like Lua.
You might not have heard of it yet since it is a very new language (development started around 2001) , and the community is still kind of small, but very active and friendly, another good reason to give it a try. Gentoo users will be able to get its original (C/Io written) implementation with a simple 'emerge io' from now on. - EFIKA mainboard! - 12/07/2006 - :
Today i received my EFIKA mainboard from the PowerDeveloper Project.
Thanks a lot Genesi! I expect to use it on the Haskell herd testing and porting packages
for the ppc platform; but first at all, i need to buy some devices and peripherals to get it working.
More of this coming soon...
- Redesigning my gentoo.org site - 12/02/2006 - :
I wanted something with a simpler look, and also easy to edit since i am not too much of a web designer.
Except for a few new scripts and directories added, the contents and goal of the site are unchanged.
I also think this new design offers several advantages. It is lighter, so it can load faster; it offers a better and simpler menu structure; and it is well configured (fonts, layout) for containing very much information within a small amount of space.
